SAN FRANCISCO, CA.- Dolby Chadwick Gallery
presents the exhibition “Anatomy of a Future Forest” by Kirsten Stolle. For the
past 18 months, Stolle has been taking on the role of a future naturalist and
documentarian: discovering, cataloging and visually recording potential new
generations of flora. Continuing to develop her contemporary vision of
an odd, unsettling, and sometimes humorous account of the future, she visually
explores the issue of climate change and its potential ramifications on plant
life. On view through 27 March, 2010.

LONDON.- Thanks to funding from Renaissance
London, visitors to Rotherhithe have a last opportunity to experience one of the
wonders of the Victorian age before it closes forever. One of Marc and Isambard
Kingdom Brunel’s engineering triumphs, contemporaries of the age called it the
Eighth Wonder of the World. The Thames Tunnel has been closed
to the public for 145 years and will now reopen as the impressive finale of
London’s EAST Festival. To mark this incredible occasion and the
Brunels’ remarkable feat, the Brunel Museum in Rotherhithe will host a
recreation of a Fancy Fair, originally held in the bowels of the tunnel deep
beneath the Thames in 1852.

LONDON.- On Tuesday, 30 March, 2010 Sotheby’s
London will offer a range of Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints.

spring sale will present an exciting opportunity to acquire works by a group of
important Old Master artists such as Rembrandt, Dürer and Goya. The
sale also demonstrates the importance of the medium to later artists with
examples by Modern and Contemporary printmakers, including Joan Miró, Pablo
Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Damien Hirst, and – following the
success of a group in Sotheby’s sale of the Lord and Lady Attenborough
Collection in November 2009 – two important works by Christopher Richard Wynne

LONDON.- Now in his 82nd year, Alex Katz is one of
the most significant artists of his generation. His distinctive portraits and
lyrical landscapes are noted for their pristine flat surface and economy of
line, depicting scenes from modern life. Katz's minimal aesthetic was developed
in the 1950s and was at the time, both an anticipation of Pop Art and a reaction
to the prevalence of Abstract Expressionism. Katz has always been that
intriguing thing: an artist's artist. His influence is widely felt: many of
today's most successful contemporary artists from Peter Doig to Elizabeth Peyton
acknowledge their debt to Katz.

NEW YORK, NY.- One of the most beautiful
manuscripts in the world is the lavishly illustrated medieval prayer book known
as the Belles Heures (Beautiful Hours). It was created by the Limbourg
Brothers—three of the greatest illuminators in Europe—for one of the most famous
art patrons of all time, Jean de France, duc de Berry (1340–1416). The
son, brother, and uncle to three successive kings of France, Jean de France
commissioned luxury works in many media—from chalices to castles—without regard
for cost, but is best remembered for his patronage of manuscripts. Herman, Paul,
and Jean de Limbourg were in their teens when he selected them to create a
sumptuous Book of Hours for his private prayers, and he allowed the young
artists rare latitude in designing the work. On view through 13 June,
2010.
